![]() ![]() When these moments of carnage ramp up (shot, cut, and performed with hunger and vitality, it must be said), and Q realizes the depths of Keaton's evil, their mutual attraction does not stop. ![]() And, frankly, wants to get laid! In a contemporary action filmscape where even James Bond is moody and unconcerned with the joys of sexuality, this frank portrayal of "two adults who are into each other from moment one" feels like a breath of fresh air, a patient-but-forward promise that this film will treat you with intelligence, will delve into every aspect of humanity among its obligatory moments of carnage. But she absolutely says "yes" to Keaton's proposition, immediately establishing herself as a complicated, human hero who's into this fun rich guy talkin' suave, and wants to talk suave herself. I expected Q to quip and deflect her way out of this direct proposition a kind of MCU-esque rhythm of self-aware screwball comedy without that genre's understanding that banter often equals flirtation. The film, even in all its old-school sturdiness, is immediately, subversively breaking down our expectations of what actioners "need" to tell us about their protagonists and antagonists. For someone (like me) who walked into this film ready to watch Q and Keaton be violently adversarial to each other, this was a wild surprise from the jump. In The Protégé, when rich criminal mastermind Michael Keaton walks into extraordinary assassin Maggie Q's rare book store (her legit business to hide all the assassin-ing), he straight up comes onto her. ![]()

Rosin can also build up on the underside of your bow, leaving a sticky white residue. ![]() Just like cleaning the instrument, rosin can also be cleaned off with a soft, dry cloth – doing this is one of my least favourite jobs in the shop as it often produces a particularly unpleasant screeching sound! Try it, you’ll see what I mean… Using alcohol or any other chemical on your strings is not recommended, even when they are off the instrument. Another way to tell if it’s time to get cleaning is if a white film is visible on the strings. Over time, the rosin from your bow will build up on the strings, preventing them from resonating properly. Never use polish or any other chemical on your instrument: this is another job very much best left to the luthiers. Instruments with especially soft varnish are best left to the luthiers, as of course are instruments of high value. The most extreme versions of soft varnish can seem to gather dirt, creating a slightly gummy top layer of a darker colour in places. Some instruments have particularly soft varnish which is much more vulnerable to cleaning: you will probably be aware if this the case for your instrument as the varnish will tend to be more prone to dents, scratches, and chips. A great design feature really given these are often the instruments that need the most help! Clean carefully, making sure to check for any varnish colour coming off on the cloth: stop immediately if you see this! New student instruments tend to have a very thick layer of varnish which will not budge when cleaning and so these can take a little more vigour as you go. ![]() For particularly stubborn marks, lightly dampening the cloth with water or perhaps even a tiny bit of salvia are your best options. The best way to do this is to clean your violin carefully with a dry, lint-free cloth. Over time, however, a build-up of rosin and the impact of heavy practice (we’re assuming the best here!) means that your instrument might benefit from a gentle clean. Another good idea is to give it a quick wipe with a clean, dry cloth before putting it back in the case. How to clean a violin, viola or celloįirst of all, remember that it’s better never to have to do a big clean on your instrument – washing your hands before you play will go a long way towards making sure it stays nice and clean. This also comes with a bit of a caveat, as depending on the age of your home the pins could have been moved over time. But it’s still worth a try – especially if you’re getting ready for a big backyard project like putting in a new fence.įinally, you can examine the exterior of your property for what are called survey pins – essentially markers in the ground that were used to determine the exact property lines the last time a survey was conducted. If your home is older than 100 years old, they may not be able to find the plat. Again, in the event that you didn’t receive one when you originally bought your home, you can likely find it by making a visit to your local zoning department. This document will also have an overview of the property lines. You can also check what is called your plat, which is a map that shows a property’s exact measurements. They’ll use GPS technology, CAD tools and other solutions to come up with an accurate and precise indication of where your property begins and ends. If you do decide to have a professional survey conducted, make sure to find someone who is licensed in the state you actually live in. You could also have a survey conducted on your own, although this can be quite expensive and depending on your needs may not be worth it. If you didn’t receive this information when you originally purchased your home, the chances are high that you can find it by checking your local clerk’s office. Keep in mind, however, that there is a chance the Google Maps technique outlined above won’t necessarily be as accurate as finding your property lines through other methods.īy far, the most accurate way to find out where your property begins and ends is by reviewing the property survey. If you keep zooming in and nothing actually happens, that means that this method unfortunately isn’t going to work for you. Sometimes Google just doesn’t have access to that data, at which point it can’t display it. It’s important to note that while Google Maps does have the ability to show property lines, this information isn’t always available for a variety of reasons. A lot of people don’t realize that Google Maps – the popular online GPS tool – is one way to accomplish precisely that. There are a wide range of different ways to find out your property lines in the event that you weren’t given this information at the time of purchase. If you want to install a pool in your backyard, for example, it stands to reason that you n eed to know precisely how large your property actually is so that you don’t encroach on a piece of land that you don’t actually own. Property lines show you the exact boundaries of your property, which can be useful if you’re planning on doing any type of construction or other home improvement-related project. One of the most critical things for new homeowners in particular to understand is where their property begins and ends. ![]() ![]() ![]() I’ll note that I don’t dislike Splinter Cell: Blacklist - that game is one of my favorite games to binge - it’s just that the formula for Aragami 1 was perfect and really didn’t need such a significant change. Now, Aragami 2 reminds me of Splinter Cell: Blacklist with all its kill-chaining, fast-paced stealth action. I have my reservations about that, mostly because I loved how the first one reminded me of classics like Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. Well, the developers have killed off the best part about Aragami 1 and replaced it with significantly faster-paced gameplay. Speaking of gameplay, you’re probably wondering what I meant when I said that “methodical, stealth is dead”. This game should have felt a hell of a lot grittier and had a no holds barred attitude. Like, god dammit give me the damn food and stop messing with me. It’s like the writers put a spoon full of food in front of you and are just playing airplane over and over again. Plot armor is as thick as it comes and is so apparent that it’s obnoxious. She then reverses this “deadly” wound, snaps you out of your daze, and you go back to fighting the bad guy. But guess what? Your friend actually managed to catch it in their hand and the blood that was pooling on your blade isn’t actually from their stomach. The bad guy uses this stone to cause you to turn your blade on a friend, stabbing them. ![]() Well, anyone can control the Aragami with the help of the most generic MacGuffin devised a stone that holds the souls of the Aragami. Like I mentioned before, the Aragami have the power to control shadows. The next paragraph is spoiler territory for the story. There’s one specific plot point that I know was meant to feel like a big deal, but came across so eh that I felt the need to skip the cinematic and get back into the gameplay. ![]() There’s not a whole lot of memorable stuff that happens, and even if it does (like friendly characters dying) it’s not written in a way that makes you want to remember - let alone care. ![]() And you’d be right, but that goes further to prove my point about how forgettable the story is. I know what you’re saying “ wow Ben, that was the most generic way you could have described that”. This power is sought after by your enemies who will stop at nothing to get to you and the other Aragami of Kakurega Village, so you must use whatever means necessary to free any remaining Aragami and drive back the invading forces. But, I do remember the basics – you play as an Aragami, a soul trapped in… somewhere… that has the power to control shadows. Well, in Aragami 2, while there is a story it was so forgettable that I’ve forgotten what most of it was about. If you’ve read my reviews in the past you’d know this is the part where I start talking about the story. The question is, however, even though that classic style of stealth may be gone from the newest title, can it pull off the newer style of gameplay? Aragami 2 is no different in this regard, a highly anticipated sequel to, you guessed it, Aragami. It’s sad every time I’m reminded by newer generation stealth games that methodical stealth is dead buried in a shallow grave by developers who have decided to move on to fast-paced, action-orientated games with a hint of stealth. ![]() ![]() ![]() For example, building teams of experts in Gensler's Critical Facilities and Health and Wellness Practices to deliver data centers for healthcare providers.
